The West Virginia Commission on the Arts of the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History will offer free financial management workshops to arts organizations and their board members in April and May in the eastern panhandle, north central, and western regions of the state. The day-long workshops will be divided into two sessions of two and one-half hours each.
Sally Zinno of Warwick, R.I., will be the workshop presenter. She owns Sally Zinno Consulting Services and she is a manager, teacher and consultant with more than 25 years experience in assisting leaders of cultural and nonprofit organizations to strengthen governance, management effectiveness and financial results. Zinno has directed the administrative and financial operations for Harvard University Art Museums in Cambridge, Mass., and the Museum of Science in Boston, Mass. She holds a degree from Brown University and a master’s degree of public administration from Syracuse University’s internationally recognized Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
The eastern panhandle meeting will take place on Thursday, April 29, at the War Memorial Building in Shepherdstown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Tuesday, May 18, participants will meet at the Museum in the Community in Hurricane from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The final workshop will be on Wednesday, May 19, at Erickson Center, Fairmont State College from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants can bring their board’s financial reports and share questions related to them with fellow attendees in a roundtable format. Reservations are required.
