The annual Youth Art Month exhibit at Grave Creek Mound Historic Site in Moundsville will open with a free public reception at Delf Norona Museum from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. The exhibit, which features artwork by Marshall County junior and senior high school students, will remain on display at the museum through April 10.
Grave Creek Mound Historic Site is located at 801 Jefferson Avenue in Moundsville. Regular museum hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information about the reception or the exhibition, call (304) 843-4128.
Operated by the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History, Grave Creek Mound is one of the largest and most famous of the burial mounds built by the Adena people. A massive undertaking, construction of the mound took place in successive stages from about 250-150 B.C., and required the movement of more than 60,000 tons of earth.
