Ted Kennedy to Speak At Rally Here Tonight

Ted Kennedy, younger brother of U. S. Senator John F. Kennedy, will return to Clarksburg today to work in behalf of the Senator's candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President.

Ted Kennedy was scheduled to confer Monday night with Marion County Democratic leaders, at the courthouse in Fairmont.

He will come to Clarksburg by automobile, arriving here about 9 a. m., and will go to the courthouse for a conference with Democratic leaders, including Harrison County Democratic Chairman Ben B. Stout.

During the remainder of the day, Kennedy will visit various factories of Harrison County. He will endeavor to visit the Hazel-Atlas, Pittsburgh Plate, and other factories at the time of shift changes, in order to see as many workers as possible.

Victor Gabriel, chairman of the Kennedy-for-President drive in Harrison County, announced that Ted Kennedy will be the principal speaker for a rally tonight at 8 o'clock in the assembly room of the Harrison County Courthouse. The public is urged to attend.

Ted Kennedy will remain in Harrison County until noon on Wednesday.

The state Kennedy headquarters in Charleston Monday urged Gabriel to make immediate plans for opening a Kennedy-for-President headquarters in Harrison County, and Gabriel said that an announcement will be made soon concerning the local headquarters.

While in Clarksburg, Kennedy will be a guest at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel. He was a visitor in Clarksburg a few weeks ago, and his brother, Bob Kennedy, stopped in Clarksburg last week.

Bob Kennedy to Visit Three Central Area Counties Today

Bob Kennedy, who is nationally known as a rackets-buster, will visit three Central West Virginia Counties today in behalf of the presidential candidacy of his brother, U. S. Senator John F. Kennedy (D-Mass.)

From noon until 1:45 p. m. today Bob Kennedy will be at the Tygart Hotel in Elkins, Randolph County, where the public is invited to see him.

For an hour beginning at 3:15 p. m. he will be at the Pocahontas courthouse in Marlinton.

He will be in Webster Springs, Webster County, for a parade at 6:30 p. m., and at 7 p. m. will address a rally at the Webster County Courthouse.

A. James Manchin of Parkersburg, who is on Senator Kennedy's election staff, said that Bob Kennedy is making the three appearances as a substitu[t]e for Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. The latter found it necessary to cut short his campaign in the state for Senator Kennedy because of urgent business in New York. Roosevelt will return later to West Virginia.
