Sen. Humphrey To Speak Here Next Tuesday

Senator Hubert Humphrey who is running in the May 10th Democratic Presidential Primary will be in Romney next Tuesday April 26. He will be entertained at a luncheon given by local Democrats and will speak at the Court House before proceeding on into the Eastern Panhandle on a campaign swing.

Arrangements for the Senator's visit here are being made by Dr. O.W. Snarr and Attorney Charles H. Bean. Dr. Snarr will renew an acquaintance with the Senator which dates from the time when Dr. Snarr was president of Moorehead Teachers College in Minnesota. Attorney Bean spent Tuesday April 19th helping to arrange the speaking schedule for Senator Humphrey in northern West Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle.

Humphrey will be on the second of three planned campaign tours of West Virginia. He will come here from Keyser and will go on to Berkeley Springs, Martinsburg and Charles Town.

The luncheon will be held at the Romney Methodist Church at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are available from the members of the Hampshire County democratic Executive Committee at $1.50.

The plans are for Senator Humphrey to speak in the open in from of the Court House in Romney at 1:15 p.m. In the event of inclement weather he will speak in the Circuit Court Room.
