Presidential Candidate Promoted Here

Robert Kennedy, brother of Senator John Kennedy, and Senator Hubert Humphrey were both in Buckhannon this week in the hope of gaining support for the Democratic nomination at the national convention this summer,

Humphrey was in Buckhannon Monday afternoon to meet interested citizens. He concluded his visit with a talk in front of the court house. A week earlier Mrs. Humphrey was in Buckhannon for the purpose of gaining support for her husband.

Robert Kennedy spoke in Atkinson Chapel on the Wesleyan campus Tuesday morning. Although campaigning for his brother John, Robert Kennedy became well known several years ago for his position on the committee investigating racketeering in labor unions and it was on that subject he spoke at Wesleyan.

Both candidates have been actively campaigning in West Virginia prior to the May 10 primary. Both candidates are hoping to win popular support for the national convention.
