Voters Greet Senator Here

Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota who is contesting with Sen. John Kennedy in the Democratic primary in West Virginia next Tuesday, will arrive in Ripley this (Wednesday) morning to meet the party members of this county and urge them to consider his candidacy.

He will be at the court house steps at the main Court street entrance at 11:00 a. m. and will remain as long as he finds interested persons with whom he can discuss his candidacy, it was announced.

The Young Democratic Club of the county is sponsoring Sen. Humphrey's visit and Wallace Ray Brown, Club President, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Brown said than an effort is being made to get as many of the party members out to meet the Senator as will be possible.

Indications in this county are that Senator Humphrey will carry the Democratic vote by a considerable majority as most of the party leaders appear to be backing his candidacy against Senator Kennedy. Many of them, however, feel that neither will be the nominee of the national convention but they are backing Humphrey in this primary contest because they privately express the opinion that they do not want Kennedy.
