Reception for Kennedy on Sunday

Kennedy, Wife to Greet Voters at Tygart Hotel

U.S. Senator John Kennedy and his pretty wife, Jacqueline, who are shown above holding their three-year-old daughter, Caroline, will be in Elkins on Sunday afternoon to greet Randolph County Voters in a last minute bid for votes in the May 10 presidential primary in W.Va.

Senator Kennedy, who for many weeks now has been stumping the state of W.Va. drumming up votes in his presidential campaign, is almost a household word in Randolph County. But little is known about his wife, who will accompany him here Sunday for the 1:30 p.m. reception at Tygart Hotel.

Senator Kennedy and his wife will arrive here by private plane at 1 p.m. tomorrow and will be greeted at the Elkins-Randolph County airport by Democrat party leaders and townspeople.

Immediately after the reception the Kennedys will fly to Clarksburg for a 3:30 p.m. reception at the Stonewall Jackson hotel.

Mrs. Kennedy, the former Jacqueline Bouvier, is the daughter of Mrs. Hugh D. Auchinloss of Newport, R.I., and Virginia, and the late John Vernon Bouvier of New York.

Mrs. Kennedy attended Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut, Vassar College, and the Sorbonne in Paris. At George Washington University, from which she was graduated in 1951, she won the Vogue Prix de Paris which included a scholarship at the Sorbonne. She studied art in Paris.

In 1952 she joined the staff of the Times Herald newspaper as an Inquiring Reporter. She covered the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in the capacity of both artist and reporter.

She married Senator John F. Kennedy on September 12, 1953 at St. Mary's Gothic Church in Newport, Rhode Island. The Kennedys have only one child.
