Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr., son of the late President Roosevelt, will speak at a Democratic rally at the Wayne County court house in Wayne Friday morning at 10:30.

Roosevelt, a former member of Congress, will visit Wayne on a campaign tour in behalf of the Kennedy-Johnson ticket. He will be the best known personality to speak in the county during the campaign and local Democratic leaders were highly pleased that this county was placed on his itinerary. He will be introduced by Judge C. W. Ferguson.

The son of the wartime president and New Deal founder will arrive at the Tri-State Airport at 10 a.m. He will be escorted to Wayne by a motorcade of Wayne County Democrats, headed by Lucian Fry, county chairman, and J. Floyd Harrison, county campaign manager. Included in the motorcade will be the county Democratic candidates, county Democratic officials and others. Chairman Fry said all Democrats are invited to take part in welcoming Roosevelt at the airport and joining the motorcade that will escort him to Wayne.

After a brief speech at Wayne, Roosevelt will continue to other communities on his itinerary, including Williamson, Logan and Pineville.

Wayne County Democrats stepped up the campaign tempo this week, with meetings every day or night except Monday. The week's campaign activities will close Saturday with an address by Judge Ferguson at a Democratic rally at Crum High School at 7:30 p.m. Candidates on the county ticket also will speak briefly.

The only rally scheduled for next week will be on Saturday night, Nov. 5, at 7:30 at the court house at Wayne. One of the attractions will be the awarding of a television set. One of the requirements is that the winner be present.

Meetings already held this week included a dinner rally at Westmoreland Tuesday night with Supreme Court Judge Chauncey Browning as speaker; rally at Fort Gay graded school Wednesday night with Joe F. Burdett, Democratic candidate for reelection as secretary of state, speaker; and a visit to Wayne Thursday of a motorcade of wives of the state Democratic candidates on their statewide tour in behalf of the Democratic ticket.
