Sir I have the honor to request of you to give me permission to discharge two of my men Jesse L Righmans and John W. Cox that have become unfit for service Righmonud rendred so by haveing [sic] a severe atack [sic] of Tifoid fever. which has fallen in his limbs. So that he is not eable to walk to do eny [sic] good And perhaps never will. He has done no duty scarcly [sic] for four months Cox was in the U.S. Service and was discharged inconsequence of Disibily [sic] But aftward [sic] thought he could stand our service But in that he was mistaken He has done no duty worth eny [sic] thing since sworn in my company He too wishes to be discharged which I think would be much the best such men are only a dead weight to the company And any reuse to the State for nothing
P.S. I should have discharged them myself But hearing that I should transcend my power I have submited [sic] it to you the rightful authority I shall therefore wait anciously [sic] for an order to this effect.
