This is to certify that Cap C. Adkins applied to me in 1861 as mustering officer [illegible] to furnish arms for his Co organized as home Guard in Boone Co which was done to get his with some ammunition- I heard that his company then organized and armed rendered important services in resisting the encroachment of the enemy.
