June 6th 1863

To His Excellency
Gov. Pierpint (sic)
Sir

I have the honor to report to you eight Companies of heme (sic) Guards now ready to enter into a Battallion (sic) for the or Redmt (sic) for the purpose of protecting their homes and driving the invader from our Teritory (sic) they only wish that you would get the apunance (sic) from the Secretary of war that they shall not be taken from the state a Regmt (sic) of this kind will be worth more than three times their number that is not acquainted with the county we feel the necefsity (sic) of consolidating our force and we will do so emediately (sic) if you will give us the apunance (sic) we ask
