Know all men by these presents. That I Anthony McCale late Sgt. of Capi, J.H. Barkers, Co. of State Scouts or guards, do here by constitute and appoint George W. Brown my wise and lawful attorney, for me and in my name to receive from the agent, or offices, of the State of West Virginia for paying of State Scouts or Guards, my pay as a member and Sgt. of said J.H. Barkers Co. of State scouts or guards to sign pay roll and do all necessary and lawfull (sic) acts to procure the same. Witness my hand and seal this 12th day of November 1866

Be it known that on the 12th day of November 1866 before the subscriber M. H. Stump. a notary Public in and for the said county. in the state aforesaid personially (sic) appeared. Anthony McCale above named. in my county and a knowledged (sic) the foregoing power of attorney to be his act and deed, - In testimony whereof I have hereinto set my hand. and affixed my private seal (having no official seal, The day and year last above written.

Personally appeared. Anthony McCale before me M. H. Stump Notary Public in and for the said county and made oath that he is the identical person Anthony McCale who was a member ans Sgt. in Capt J.H. Banker Co. of WVa State troops or scouts. As shown by the rolls of said co.

Also at the same time personally came John McCale and William McCale witnesses whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit and made oath that they are well akwainted (sic) with the said Anthony McCale and know him to be the soldier who served as Sgt. in Capt J.H. Bankers Co of state troops. That they saw the said Anthony McCale mustering scouting and doing duty in the said company and they further swear that they are not intevested (sic) in this claim.
