Dear Sir:
By examining the pay roll enclosed you will see that there is an error in carrying out the pay of Samuel Ross at $15.87, instead of $31.55 as it should have been. I did not discover the error myself until I came to pay Ross, and therefore paid him $31.55, which leaves the sum of $15.68 due me by the state. Please remit this amount to me the first safe opportunity.
