Dear Sir
I received the cartridges you sent me to wit [sic] 2 boxs [sic] elongated bulletts [sic] [unreadable text] they are too large. they suit the [unreadable text] rifled musket and there has been a mistake in some way or other or a design through some rascal; please send me two boxs [sic] enfield [sic] cartridges send them forthwith as we stand in need of them for we do not know at what time the rebbels [sic] will attack us our guns are the same calibre [sic] of the enfield [sic] guns that our soldiers use write to me as soon as you send the ammunition so that I will know when to send after them direct to Bone Creek Ritchie Co W.Va. must

ps. The account that Leint D Hukert presented to be paid is incorreck [sic] we mad [sic] the prisioners [sic] pay their own expenses at Harrisville and we only claim our own expense of guards & the whole number of meals from Monday the 14th untill [sic] Saturday the 19th are 102, ----Lieutenants expense for telegraph dispatch 1st $140---2nd $130---do not let any person have the money except an order from me
