I arrived at home Saturday 4 p.m. My men followed the Villians that killed Maj Wichers men and killed 1 Horse and woonded [sic] Lt Sargent [sic] Bryan tells me they passed in three hundred yards of them in the knight [sic] But it was Raining in [?] and they failed to discover them.

I had 2% and the Rebels 31 men. The Sargent[ sic] is much afflicted at the thought of missing them I propose to take Gen Hunters Published Circular for my guide and carry it out. please send 2 boxes Cartridges
