Named: For Stevens Thomson Mason (1794-1803) a distinguished patriot, long a member of the Virginia Assembly and of the Senate of the United States (Lewis, History and Government, 266);
          or, for George Mason (1725-1792), deviser of the Constitution of Virginia and a member of the convention which framed the Federal Constitution (Lewis, History of West Virginia in Two Parts, 616). Learn more
