This book is a collection of site histories of construction projects carried out across the United States by the Public Works Administration. West Virginia has three structures included in the book.

This report is the result of a survey of the population, industries, resources, and the Social and Economic conditions of the Upper Monongahela River during the Great Depression.

The West Virginia Board of Control was by the Legislature in 1909 to manage and direct all of the state-owned public institutions. During the New Deal period the Board of Control monitored all of the federal and local projects at the institutions under their purview.

This report is an appraisal of the Works Progress administration in West Virginia. The book includes letter responses from cities, municipality and towns who responded to a series of questions on a survey that about the effectiveness of each WPA project.

This report was completed by West Virginia Relief Administrator William N. Beehler and covered the programs of the West Virginia Relief Administration from August 1932 to November 1, 1934. The report provides a survey of the New Deal projects that were carried out under the West Virginia Relief Administration.
