IMPORTANT DISPATCH.

Rout of the Rebels on Sandy.

We are indebted to Mr. L. A. Hagans, Secretary of the Commonwealth, for the following news:

EXECUTIVE DEP'T, WHEELING, VA.
October 22, 1861.

The following telegram was received at this Department this morning:

CAMP PEIRPOINT, Oct 22, 1861.

Gov. Peirpoint - Two companies while scouting up Sandy River, on last Saturday, came upon a secession force, killing 11, wounding many, capturing 5 prisoners, 9 horses and 9 rifles.

Col. Zeigler went up the Sandy yesterday.

Another company is scouting up the Twelve Pole.

We shall protect the polls in Wayne and Cabell counties, cleaning out as we advance.
