Gen. Frederick W. Lander died in his camp, at Paw Paw, Western Virginia, this afternoon, from congestion of the brain, superinduced by the debilitating effects of the wound he received near Edward's Ferry, in his reconnaissance the day after the fall of Col. Baker. The country loses in the death of Gen. Lander, one of its bravest and most energetic officers, and one who had given the highest promise of valuable service in this its time of greatest need. - N. Y. Tribune, March 3.
