Dr. Jonathan Morris, Surgeon of the 9th Virginia regiment, who was captured at Guyandotte in November last, and taken to Richmond, reached here Saturday last, on his way home at Ironton, having been exchanged. The Doctor bitterly complains of ill-treatment by Col. Clarkson and his thieving followers, who numbered fifteen hundred. For the first two days after leaving Guyandotte he was furnished but one meal, and for the whole distance to Richmond, the prisoners were allowed only half rations, and those of the meanest kind. He states that Clarkson murdered Col. Bailey in cold blood after he had surrendered, and also confirms the statement made at the time, that Jim Hereford was one of the leading devils at the Guyandotte massacre. He saw and conversed with him, which puts at rest all doubts on that score. We hope the Doctor will furnish an account of "his travels" for publication.
