Editors Intelligencer:
At a meeting of the Union citizens of Braxton county, held on the 22d inst., the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously passed:
WHEREAS, It is always the right, it is in times like the present, the duty of American citizens to assemble in primary meeetings[sic] and make declarations of love and loyalty to the Government of their own founding and choice, and so encourage end support their agents in every constitutional effort, to preserve its integrity, Therefore
Resolved, That we endorse and highly approve the policy of our Governor in subduing this unholy rebellion in our midst and in our opinion the legislature ought to have passed such laws as the Governor recommended in his message to them at their last regular session, requiring rebels to take the oath, and confiscate their property in certain cases.
Resolved, That we approve the course pursued by our Representative in the House of Delegates, at Wheeling, and we do instruct him to vote for such laws as the Governor recommended to the legislature at the last session, as we believe it to be the only efficient means by which the rebellion in our midst can be subdued.
