Wheeling Intelligencer

A Prisoner. - Yesterday morning about ten o'clock, a portion of the cavalry scout, which had gone out the previous day in the direction of Waynesburg, returned, bringing with them a son of Jeff. Martin, (former U. S. Marshal, now in Dixie,) whom they captured near Limestone, late in the night. Martin was going in the direction of Waynesburg, but beyond this there was nothing suspicious about him, except his identity. He professed to be going to the house of a relative, with whom he said he was living. It was thought better, however to bring him along.

The scouts penetrated as far as Beeler's Station, about half way to Waynesburg, and failed to discover any signs of an enemy. The people out there were in blissful ignorance of the raid, and were greatly surprised at the appearance of our cavalry.
