Meeting of the Fourth Ward Union Club.
December 30, 1863
At a special meeting of the Fourth Ward Union Club, held on the evening of the 28th inst., for that purpose, the following named persons were, by ballot, chosen candidates in the coming election for offices in the township of Union:
Supervisor - John Reed.
Township Clerk - S. G. Stevens.
Overseer of the Poor - Harvey Hall.
Township Treasurer - W. L. McNeeley.
Inspectors of Elections - O. J. Crawford, James Launder.
Justices of the Peace - Geo. Bulger, James Launder.
Constables - Wm. Ramp, Wm. H. Smith.
Messrs. J. E. Bier, John Clator and S. G. Stevens were appointed delegates to the County Convention.
Messrs. W. L. McNeeley and Joseph N. Britt were appointed to procure tickets for the election.
The following resolution, offered by Mr. T. O'Brien, was unanimously passed.
Resolved, That the Supervisor of this township should favor the levying of a tax not only for the purpose of affording aid to the families of soldiers, but also for the giving of bounties to volunteers.
On motion, ordered, that the proceedings of this meeting be published in the Wheeling Intelligencer.
