May 26, 1864

The Wheeling Daily Intelligencer
May 26, 1864

Capt. W. C. Thorpe, who has been on duty in this city for a year or more; leaves this morning to join Gen. Sherman's army in the field. Capt. Thorpe's relations with the people of Wheeling have been of the most pleasant character, and he will leave many friends who will not soon forget their intercourses with him. He has our best wishes for his safety, promotion and general prosperity.

Lieut. Wells, who has been engaged here with Capt. Thorpe, for some time, also leaves this morning for the army of the Potomac.
