Theft of a Horse. - Two men giving their names as John A. Smith and John F. Brown were arrested by the military authorities on the 3d instant, at Cumberland, charged with having stolen a horse, the property of Mr. John H. Ward at New Creek, West Va. The parties, previous to their arrest, made a bargain with Mr. H. G. Davis, of Piedmont, for the sale of the horse, but his suspicions having been aroused that they had not obtained it fairly, he declined purchasing, and subsequently ascertained that they had stolen it. On the day following their arrest they were turned over to the civil authorities, and committed to the keeping of the sheriff of the county, to await the requisition of the Governor of West Virginia.
