Thanksgiving Day. - Thursday was universally observed here as a day of thanksgiving. The city was as quiet as upon a Sabbath day and no business whatever was done. Services were held in the churches, all of which were tolerably well attended. Hundreds of people went to picnics in the country, and there was scarcely a vehicle or a beast of burthen left in town.
