Wheeling Intelligencer
April 3, 1863

From Braxton County. - Mr. Rollyson, member of the late Legislature from Braxton county, arrived in the city yesterday. He represents everything comparatively quiet in Braxton and adjoining counties. There are no regular rebel troops nearer than Lewisburg, in Greenbrier, though bushwhackers continue to make little raids into Clay and Braxton, and succeed in carrying off a few old horses, most of the good horses having been conscripted into the rebel service long ago. There are four or five companies of Union soldiers at Sutton, and two or three at Bulltown. A few days ago a lot of guerrillas captured a boy who lived with Levi Rogers, in Clay county, and took him out in the woods and shot him. The boy's only offence was that he belonged to Capt. King's Home Guards, and Capt. King's manner of fighting the bushwhackers is not exactly constitutional.

Mr. C. F. Boggs, Sheriff of Braxton, who was thought to have decamped with a considerable sum of money which he had collected, has returned home.
