Remember...

Lawrence E. Adams
1920?-1943?

Army Sergeant Lawrence E. Adams hailed from Marion County, West Virginia. He likely was Lawrence Edward Adams Jr., born in Fairmont on August 9, 1920, to Lawrence and Kathleen Adams. At the time of his enlistment in the Army Air Corps at Langley Field, Virginia, on January 23, 1941, he was single and without dependents.

Sgt. Adams had completed four years of high school and in civilian life was employed in the category of "semiskilled chauffeurs or drivers, bus, taxi, truck, and tractor."

Little else is known of Adams's life, except he is listed on the World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing Army and Air Force Personnel. A Sgt. Lawrence E. Adams was among the crew of a B-24 reported missing in the Asiatic area on July 11, 1943, and subsequently reported dead from a plane crash. According to interment records at Jefferson Barracks in Missouri, the crew was buried there en masse on August 20, 1949.
