David Samuel Cook
1949-1968

David Samuel Cook was born on July 23, 1949, at Jesse, West Virginia. He was one of three children born to Jesse and Audrey Cecil Cook. David graduated from Glen Rogers High School in 1967. While a student he participated in the Pep, Varsity and Book Clubs. He also was a member of the track team and lettered while a member of the Owls basketball team. While in high school, David was a member of the Trade School. He also attended Wyoming Vocational-Technical School in Pineville.

David enlisted in the Marine Corps in January of 1968 and received basic training at Camp Pendleton in California. He began his tour of duty in Vietnam on July 4, 1968. PFC. David S. Cook was killed on July 11 while on patrol in Quang Nam, South Vietnam.

The body of PFC. David Samuel Cook was returned to the United States and buried in Palm Memorial Gardens in Wyoming County, West Virginia. His name appears on the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C.
