Remember...Roger Lee Simpson

Roger Lee Simpson was born October 19, 1949, in Belington, West Virginia, the eldest of two sons born to Frank and Gertrude Findley Simpson.
| Roger attended Philip Barbour High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers while a student. He graduated with the class of 1967 and attended Fairmont State College for one semester. Enlisting in the Army on April 22, 1968, he took his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was assigned to Company D, 8th Battalion, 3rd Brigade. Afterward he was stationed at Camp Hope, Louisiana, for advanced training and graduated on August 30, 1968. Roger attended NCO training school at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was an instructor in the use of booby traps and land mines six weeks prior to his transfer to Vietnam. |  Roger Lee Simpson, high school, 1967 |
On December 24, 1968, Roger Lee Simpson married Julia Marie Griffith in Barbour County, West Virginia.
On June 26, 1969, having been in Vietnam three months, Roger Lee Simpson, then a sergeant, was killed in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam, the result of the explosion of a booby trap. His body was sent to the United States and buried in Valley Bend Cemetery.
