In 1775, Thomas W. Grimes produced the original Grimes golden apple in Wellsburg. In 1912, Andrew H. Mullins developed the first golden delicious apple on his Clay County farm. The golden delicious was adopted as the official state fruit in 1995.

The Shawkey family of Charleston used this silverware in the mid 1900s. The pieces are not a set and were made by a variety of companies. Donated by Sue Shawkey of Charleston. Mu 98-112
