Col. J. C. Paxton, of the 2d Virginia Cavalry, Gen. Cox's army, has recently made a successful raid into Nicholas and Raleigh counties. Gov. Peirpont yesterday received the following dispatch:
SUMMERVILLE, VA., Nov. 27
GOV. PEIRPOINT: - The 2d Virginia Cavalry under my command, has just made the most successful and extraordinary raid during the war. I have 110 prisoners, 100 horses and 250 stand of arms. We destroyed their camps, stores and wagons, and did not lose a man.

REBEL PRISONERS.
The one hundred and eleven prisoners brought up the river on the steamer Science, on Thursday evening, were captured recently near Lewisburg by Col. Paxton, of the 2nd Virginia cavalry. They are parts of four companies and belonged to the famous Jenkins' band. They were in charge of Capt. M'Mahan, Lieut. Smith, and Mr. Bumgardner, Deputy U. S. Marshal, are of the best looking men we have yet seen of the rebel army.
The prisoners started yesterday afternoon for Camp Chase.
