Democratic women of West Virginia will have an opportunity Saturday to meet and talk with elected officials, state party officers and broaden their political knowledge.

The occasion is the second annual State-wide Democratic Women's Day. The meeting in the Daniel Boone Hotel will begin at 10 a.m. and in addition to West Virginia's five Democratic Congressmen and one member of the U.S. Senate, they will have an opportunity to hear Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota address a 6:30 p.m. banquet.

After registration from 10 a.m. till noon, a luncheon will be the first event, with the women serving in the House of Delegates as honored guests.

They are Miss Callie Tsapis of Chester; Mrs. Nell Walker of Winona; Miss Eudora Andrews of Charleston, and Mrs. Elizabeth Drewery of Northfolk.

Also expected to attend the luncheon are U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd, five Democratic members of the House of Representatives, Congressmen Harley O. Staggers, Cleveland M. Bailey, Ken Hechler, Mrs. Elizabeth Kee and John M. Slack Jr.: members of the Board of Public Works, president of the State Senate, Speaker of the House and the party officers.

A 2:30 p.m. workshop in the ballroom will have the following panelists: Mrs. Earl Hall of Madison, whose subject is "Value of State Organization" ; Mrs. Mabel Hess White of Morgantown, on "Interrelation of Partisan and Service Club Work" ; William R. Ross professor of political science at West Virginia University on "Political Organization in West Virginia" and Senator Byrd, whose subject is "Building for '60."

The moderator will be Miss Anne Hearst of Morgantown, member of the Advisory Council of the Democratic National Committee.

A reception for Senator Humphrey is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. It will be directed by Mrs. William R. Sharpe of Clarksburg and aids are women from the Third Congressional District.

Men may attend the reception and also the 6:30 banquet in the ballroom when Senator Humphrey will speak.

Democratic officials said Women's Day is not a fund raising affair and registration costs have been set at a bare minimum to cover expenses, in view of the economic situation.

It is designed so that women, who play an ever-increasingly important part in elections, can meet, and talk with elected officials, state party officers and through participation in workshop discussions, broaden their political knowledge, stimulate enthusiasm on their county club level, secure program ideas, and learn the basis of organization.
