Sen. Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota, one of the principals in the Democratic presidential contest, will invade Mercer County today in his bid for votes in West Virginia's May 10 preferential primary.

He is scheduled to arrive in Princeton by motorcade from Hinton around 11:45 a.m.

Humphrey will be greeted by Princeton Mayor E. W. Anderson and will walk to the Maidenform plant with the welcoming committee for a luncheon planned for 300 people. He is scheduled for a speech at the luncheon.

The Minnesotan will leave Princeton at 2:30 p.m. for Madison, where Boone County Young Democrats will give a dinner for him at 6:45 p.m. in the Memorial Building. The candidate is scheduled to speak there at 8 p.m. He will leave Madison at 9:30 p.m. for Charleston, where he will spend Sunday.

Humphrey is scheduled to visit Bluefield on Monday. His handshaking campaign for Monday will carry him to Logan, Williamson and Welch before arriving in Bluefield.

Humphrey opened his West Virginia campaign Friday at Beckley with a blast at Vice President Richard M. Nixon and what he called the "veto, go-slow, no-go" Eisenhower administration record. He said the Democrats will attack Nixon this fall on the basis of his record. He described this record as a tempting target.

Sen. John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts, whom Humphrey will meet in the May 10 popularity test in West Virginia, will start touring the Mountain State for votes on Monday. Kennedy is scheduled to arrive in Parkersburg early Monday morning, with other visits that day to Charleston and Huntington, winding up a whirlwind tour at Beckley in the evening.
