About 300 persons attended the rally Tuesday night at the court house to hear Bob Kennedy, brother of Senator John F. Kennedy, speak.

He pointed out that West Virginia was now next to last in getting defense contracts from the government. Only rural Vermont got fewer such contracts.

He also said that he felt that Kennedy's opponent in the primary Senator Hubert Humphrey was just as qualified for president as his brother but that Senator could not win in the fall election.

Several other candidates were introduced including Joe F. Burdett, Wade Bronson and L.W. Boley. Lewis E. Smith was master of ceremonies, replacing Victor Hamilton who was called out of town.

Refreshments were served by Mrs. M. H. Pearcy, Mrs. Robert Campbell, Mrs. Forrest Gunn and Mrs. Ray Stiers.
