U. S. Senator John F. Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy will be in Clarksburg on Sunday, May 8, only two days before the West Virginia primary, and will be honor guests at an open house here.

Announcement of the planned trip here was made by the Kennedy for President Headquarters, together with word that the open house will be in the Crystal ballroom of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel at 3:30 p.m.

This will be the second visit of Senator Kennedy to Clarksburg in his campaign for votes for President in the West Virginia Primary. A crowd of several hundred persons attended a coffee hour for Senator Kennedy here a few weeks ago.

Senator Kennedy considers the vote in Central West Virginia very important in his primary fight with Senator Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota, and he therefore hopes that delegations will be present from all Central West Virginia counties.

Mrs. Kennedy's appearance here will be important for the women voters, and all women of the area are invited to meet her and her husband at the hotel. Senator and Mrs. Kennedy will shake hands with every person present and will be ready to discuss any problem pertaining to the campaign. The problems will be discussed in a speech which Senator Kennedy will give as a part of the open house.

The announcement from the Kennedy headquarters here said that County Democratic Chairman Ben B. Stout will introduce Senator Kennedy. This is in accordance with a policy that the county chairman introduces all distinguished members of the Democratic Party who visit in Clarksburg. The Harrison County Democratic Executive Committee has a policy of supporting no particular candidate in the primary.

Senator Hubert H. Humphrey (D. Minn.) winds up his campaigning in Northern West Virginia with an appearance at Morgantown on Thursday evening at the University of West Virginia, and a stop in Clarksburg on Saturday afternoon and evening.

Humphrey will arrive in Morgantown late Thursday afternoon, and deliver an address on the campus of the University at 8 p. m. (Daylight Saving Time). The Minnesota presidential contender will speak in the auditorium of the Music Building on the campus.

The schedule for Humphrey announced by the Clarksburg office indicates that he will leave for Huntington shortly after his speech at the university.

In Clarksburg on Saturday, Humphrey will arrive at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel at 3:45 p. m. In the evening, he will appear at the Harrison County Democratic Dinner and at a COPE-sponsored dance at the Moose Hall.

Pleased at the reception he received on a prior visit through the Northern counties, Humphrey is "looking forward eagerly to a return trip."

"Folks up in the North counties are doing two things I like," Humphrey said. "First, they are talking about the issues in the primary, and second, no matter who wins it, they are bound and determined to put a Democrat into the White House next January."
