Republicans from all over the state will be in Charleston this evening to see and hear Vice President Richard M. Nixon in the only scheduled West Virginia appearance of his presidential campaign.

D. Boone Dawson, chairman of "West Virginia's Salute to Nixon" rally, said seating accommodations have been arranged for 7,500 persons at the Charleston Civic Center.

Nixon will make a major campaign speech there, starting at 8 p. m. EST. It will be carried by the same statewide network that carried a Civc Center speech eight days earlier by Nixon's Democratic rival for the presidency, Sen. John F. Kennedy.

The vice president and Mrs. Nixon, coming from Memphis, are scheduled to arrive at Kanawha Airport at 7 p.m. One plane will carry the Nixons and the Vice President's official staff. Fifty-five newsmen will come in another.

There will be 20 minutes at the airport for greeting Republican leaders, led by Gov. Underwood, and the speech to the crowd.

The next 20 minutes will be taken up with getting to the Civic Center. There will be no parade, just a motorcade. The route to be followed will be Greenbrier St. to Washington St., down Washington to Reynolds St., then along Reynolds to the Civic Center..

All Republican statewide candidates are to be on hand for Vice President Nixon's campaign appearance.

GOP State Chairman Daniel L. Louchery said that a place will be reserved for them on the stage at the Charleston Civic Center along with the state's six Republican congressional candidates.

Gov. Underwood plans to cut short his attendance at the Southern Governors' Conference in Hot Springs, Ark., to head the official greeting party. Underwood will fly to Charleston Tuesday afternoon to participate in the program.

The official reception committee that will greet Nixon at the airport includes, in addition to Gov. and Mrs. Underwood, Governor candidate Harold Neely and his wife; National Committeeman Walter S. Hallanan of Charleston; National Committeewoman Mrs. Perle T. Harman of Bluefield; Rep. Arch A. Moore Jr. of Glen Dale; State Chairman Louchery; former Sen. Chapman Revercomb and former Sen. John D. Hoblitzell Jr. of Bluefield; Edward E. Greene of Huntington, state chairman of Volunteers for Nixon.

Associate State GOP Chairman Mrs. E. K. Stevens of Charleston; Mrs. Regis Heinzer of Charleston, president of the West Virginia Federation of Republican Women's Clubs; Donald K. Beane of Dunbar, president of the Young Republican League of West Virginia; Charleston Mayor John Shanklin; D. Boone Dawson, chairman of the Nixon rally; Rev. William Ricks, assistant to Louchery, and George W. King, GOP nominee for Congress in the Sixth District.
