West Virginia Legislature


The legislative branch in West Virginia is bicameral, consisting of two houses, the Senate and the House of Delegates. The Senate has 34 members who are elected to 4-year terms, while the House of Delegates has 100 members who are elected to 2-year terms. The legislature holds a 60-day regular session each year and also may meet for special sessions at the call of the governor.
