HISTORICAL NOTE
Hedgeman Slack (1807-1873) from Kanawha County, West Virginia ("FamilySearch.org"), was a Major for the 7th Regiment West Virginia Cavalry with the Union Army during the American Civil War ("7th Regiment, West Virginia Cavalry").

SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Slack, Hedgeman papers include correspondence and legal documents, as well as two journals of letters and one diary kept by Kanawha County U.S. Marshall Hedgeman Slack.
