The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History will host a week of brown bag concerts Dec. 5-9, 2005, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Cultural Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston. Music lovers are invited to bring a lunch and enjoy the music in the Great Hall. The concerts, part of the annual Holiday Celebration at the Cultural Center, are free and open to the public.
On Monday, Dec. 5, visitors can hear the jazz and blues tunes of The Random Order String Band. Tuesday, Dec. 6, will feature the band Alan Griffith and the Cheap Beats, which specializes in folk rock and Americana music. The traditional music of Jenny Allinder and Robin Kessinger will enliven the Wednesday, Dec. 7, lunch hour. The classic country band I-79 will be showcased on Thursday, Dec. 8, and rounding out the week of concerts is the jazz and blues band Runny Water on Friday, Dec. 9.
Visitors also can see the West Virginia Juried Exhibition 2005, which is on display in the Balcony, Lobby and Art galleries. The show, presented biennially, features 124 pieces of art created by West Virginia artists and craftspeople. The exhibit will remain on display through Jan. 29, 2006.
