The Museum in the Park at Chief Logan State Park will ring in the holiday season with a family-oriented open house and concert on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 from 5 - 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The evening’s activities include an acoustic guitar performance of seasonal tunes by Jane Rosenbohm of Parkersburg. Children can make greeting cards, snowflakes, and Victorian holiday tubes filled with candy.
Visitors also can view the three exhibits that are on display, including Snapshot in Time, a photographic history of West Virginia from the West Virginia State Archives collection; Trees of Light, an assortment of holiday trees; and the Island Creek Model Railroad HO-scale train display. Rounding out the event, visitors may enjoy cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider.

The Museum in the Park is a regional cultural center showcasing the best in West Virginia history and the arts. It features changing exhibits and displays of artwork and historical items from the collections of the West Virginia State Museum and State Archives. One area of the museum is dedicated to local and regional history. It is operated and maintained by the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History and is located four miles north of Logan on West Virginia Route 10 at Chief Logan State Park.
For the holiday season, the Museum is expanding its hours to 5 - 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday, and noon - 9 p.m. Sunday. The facility will be closed Dec. 24 - 25, and Dec. 31 - Jan.1. Normal operating hours will resume on Sunday, Jan. 2 of 5 - 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon - 5 p.m. Sunday. Museum tours can be arranged by calling Vernatter during operating hours.
