The Museum in the Park at Chief Logan State Park will host a Native American pow wow on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. All activities are free and open to the public.
Events will include drumming, singing, dancing, crafts, food, demonstrations and more. The “Grand Entry” parade will take place at noon each day; however, food and craft vendors will be open at 10 a.m. Food booths will serve traditional items such as hot dogs and corn dogs as well as frog legs, elk and buffalo burgers. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and sit on the Museum grounds to enjoy the sights and sounds of a time in the past.
Participants also can tour the Museum and see the exhibits on display, including the newest installation, The Omar Project: Not a Simple Story; as well as DeHue . . . A Special Place; West Virginia Quilts: A Tradition of Excellence; Fallen Field and Rising Light; and An Early History of Firearms in West Virginia.

The Museum in the Park is a regional cultural center showcasing the best in West Virginia history and the arts. It features changing exhibits and displays of artwork and historical items from the collections of the West Virginia State Museum and State Archives. One area of the museum is dedicated to local and regional history. Regular Museum hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 1- 6 p.m. on Sunday.
