11/16/04

The West Virginia Commission on the Arts and the arts staff of the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History recently published the new Grants and Services and Arts in Education Roster books and have scheduled workshops throughout the state to explain new procedures now in force to arts administrators and organizations, individual artists and arts educators. The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Schoenbaum Family Enrichment Center, 1701 5th Ave., Charleston.
The Grants and Services book describes all available services, resources and information for arts program planning. The Arts in Education Artist Roster provides resources for hiring teaching artists for arts in education programs.
In addition, the grant application forms also have changed and will be introduced at the workshop. The new forms will enable applicants to give a clearer description of the information necessary to improve their scoring and chance of funding. The new forms will be available online at www.wvculture.org by Dec. 15. An interactive CD with the new books and forms also will be available in December.
Directions to the Schoenbaum Family Enrichment Center are available at www.familyenrichmentcenter.org/map.htm or (304) 414-4400.
For more information about the workshop and to find out about future dates in other locations, call Kelley French, secretary for the arts section, at (304) 558-0240, ext.155, or by e-mail at [email protected].
