Ammed Solomon

Ammed Solomon is a professional drummer/percussionist with over 30 year’s experience. His talents can be heard worldwide NPR’s highly acclaimed show Mountain Stage. As a member of the house band since 1986, Ammed has had the pleasure of accompanying a vast roster of artists from current sensations, Tift Merritt and Nellie McKay, to legendary artists such as Dr. John, Kathy Mattea and Warren Zevon. This year Mountain Stage will celebrate 30 years on the air. The show has traveled from Alaska to Scotland sharing the best eclectic music the industry has to offer.

A self-taught percussionist, Mr. Solomon has performed, composed and recorded on countless projects. You can catch his masterful drumming with regional favorite bands The Voodoo Katz and the Soul Doctors. In addition to performing, Ammed has earned the reputation as a gifted teacher presenting workshops, artist-in-residence, and various arts-in-education programs throughout WV and beyond.  Solomon’s experience as a dance accompanist has culminated in collaborations with his wife, Brianne, a gifted dancer and choreographer. This will be Ammed’s 18th season as the modern accompanist for the WV Dance Festival.
