Dear Sir
There is a party of Irish man
Living within Ten or Twelve miles
from here that has made it a
to buy whiskey By the
Barrel and keep it his and
sell it to our Soldiers from
Beverly and other points.
It has caused us much a good -
trouble as well as the citizens
of the 14th Inst. I was
informed Some of the
party was smuggling a load
of liquor through the mountains
and I sent out a Squad of
men and found three Barrels
of whiskey here in the woods.
near where they had Broke
down their wagon. I have
the whiskey here + one of
the men under arrest Instruct me.
What to do with the whiskey + what to do with the offender he wants to give a Bond for his good Behavior in the future he is Said to be a union man by Principle But he has a poor way of showing it. If you allow him to give Bond Send me a copy
