To all individuals planning to visit the Capitol during the Regular Session of the State Legislature, beginning this Wednesday, January 9, 2019:
The Real Estate Division’s Parking Section would like to offer the following information related to parking at the state Capitol campus during the 2019 Regular Session of the State Legislature. During the Session, visitors are encouraged to park at metered spaces that may be available in Lot 8, which is accessible from the Piedmont Road and Greenbrier Street entrances. Although parking attendants do not carry change with them, they will be available for assistance at each entrance. Meters will be available for 25 cents for each half hour, up to a maximum of four hours. Public parking is also available at Laidley Field (Lots 7A and 7B), which is located on the stadium side of Elizabeth Street, just north and south of the ticket booth.
Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority (KRT) shuttle is available daily, excluding weekends and holidays, during the Legislative Session. The shuttle departs from Laidley Field, beginning at 6:45 a.m. serving each of the stops listed below approximately every 10-15 minutes. The shuttle does not operate between 11:00 a.m. – 11:20 a.m. The shuttle route includes:
Please note that all metered spaces on California Avenue as well as all metered parking spaces in Lot 24 (also located on California Avenue) and on Kanawha Boulevard are reserved for the House of Delegates. Greenbrier Street is reserved for use by the Senate.
Public entrances to the Capitol are located on the lower east wing (California Avenue) and lower west wing (across from the Culture Center). Signs noting “Public Entrance” are visible on the sidewalks. Security personnel will greet visitors at the public entrances and visitors will be required to adhere to proper security protocols, including security scanners.
