"Original envelope with Season's Greetings Message from President of Frankenberger & Company containing a message for the New Year 1966 with a reproduced etching for framing by Artist James Swann of Chicago. The picture is of the Cass Scenic Railroad with the Old Shay Engine and open observation cars approaching the station of Cass, West Virginia in Pocahontas County. The envelope is addressed to Sue Kessell. After she returned from Marshall and was working as Secretary to Judge W. J. Thompson, she did a great deal of shopping at Frankenbergers, and this etching was to show appreciation for doing business in the store that was located on Capitol Street."

"It should be noted that Mrs. R.F. Wohlford was married to Dr. Wohlford who was a well respected physician in South Charleston. They had two children Frank and Carolyn. Mrs. Wohlford's name was Hope. She was a nurse and after Dr. Wohlford passed away. It is my understanding that she worked in the Kanawha County School system as a nurse. Mrs. S.D. Kessell, my mother, later became a teacher and worked in one of the last remaining one room schools known as Saw Mill located just outside of South Charleston. Following the teacher assignment, she worked many years at Rock Lake Elementary, and after retirement from there she continued working as a substitute teacher in Kanawha County up until she was 80 years old, and at that time she retired to Florida. Hope Wohlford and Irene Kessell remained good friends through the years. Each contributed greatly to the community from their days of young womanhood in the area of civic work and as professional women."

1:14 Emblems of Power Asafo Flags from Ghana by Mary Sue Rosen and Paul Peter Rosen, 2012
"My passions for art, writing, literature and many facts of cultural history have greatly impacted my life. I have included an art book that my husband and I co-wrote on Asafo flags from Ghana. We have a strong interest in African textiles, and I sincerely believe that for me growing up in West Virginia this appreciation came from my late grandmother, Susie See, and my late Aunt Frances Kessell. I was exposed to seeing beautiful applique work from family and friends so that when we went to Ghana searching for these flags I could relate in a way that was quite thrilling. My husband was made chief in the village of Goma Asebu, as you can see photos of both of us on pages 62-63."
