Road Construction in West Virginia

The topography of West Virginia has been a constant challenge for the construction of roads and bridges throughout our state. The images in this exhibit, on display between August 2017 and June 2018, demonstrate the hard work of many to connect our cities and towns. From the earliest image of a turnpike that predates statehood to the dedication of the New River Gorge Bridge, the longest arch bridge in the Western hemisphere, these images show why we love our country roads.
