Simon Perkins

Simon Perkins, 1813-1887, was the son of Akron's founder General Simon Perkins and was one of the town's most prominent residents. He served a term as state senator and one as representative, was first president of the Akron Rural Cemetery Association, and helped bring the railroad to Akron. In 1837, he built a large Greek Revival home in Akron, where he, his wife Grace Tod Perkins, and their children lived.
