Editors Intelligencer:
The militia of Tyler was called out on last Friday, the object was to obtain volunteers. After being formed into line by their officers, they were marched out to a grove and was organized into a meeting by election Wm. J. Boreman, Esq., President, A. D. Soper, Vice President, and W. D. Smith, Secretary.
Messrs. Col. J. E. Boyers, J. M. Smith, Rev. D. Sweeney, D. D. Johnson, and A. J. Morgan were appointed a Committee to draft resolutions expressive of the meeting. Gen. A. S. Core explained the object of the people being called together, and the importance of their response to the call made upon them by the Government. Mr. Crane, Auditor of State, was introduced to the meeting by the President. Mr. Crane delivered an able and spirited address. It was well received by those present. Mr. Campbell Tarr also delivered a short but excellent address. Messrs. Crane and Tarr have the well wishes of loyal Tyler. Mr. C. Stewart, of Doddridge county, also addressed the audience. He, as usual, was severe in his remarks upon Jeff Davis & Co. John S. Carlile did not escape him either. His treachery was fully exposed. The resolutions drafted by the Committee were read and adopted unanimously and were ordered to be published in the Virginia Plaindealer and Wheeling papers.:They were expressive of strong Union sentiments, also asking John S. Carlile to resign his seat in the U.S. Senate.
The regiment was reformed and marched to town and dismissed for a short time, when they were again ordered out, and beating for volunteers commenced. Thirty-six were sworn in. This is doing well in one day. Tyler will make up her company this week. Good order prevailed throughout the day.
Kanawha.
